Technical Certification was developed in 1992 as a direct result of the
dramatic changes in the health care industry. AAHAM developed the CPAT and
CCAT examinations to test the proficiency of individuals involved in the
collection of patient accounts and to prepare them for the many changes to
come.

The Technical Certification exam is second only to the Professional exam in
terms of difficulty and time needed to prepare for it. Successful completion of
the exam should indicate to a prospective employer that an individual has
mastered the common body of technical knowledge required of an employee
in the patient accounts department. Certification designation affords benefits
during job search or promotional opportunities.

Testing is now conducted on the Internet.

Cost of the technical Certification - $125.

Calendar  here. Study sessions can be provided in various areas throughout
the chapter before each testing session.

BridgeFront now offers online education designed for those seeking to
complete AAHAM’s Certified Patient Accounts Technician (CPAT) certification
exam and those who must meet the CPAT CEU requirements.   Full
information can be obtained at www.bridgefront.com .  This education is
sponsored by AAHAM and provided by Bridgefront and provides education for
the CPAT on an internet webinar basis.  

Individual sessions or overall Revenue cycle packages are available.  They
can be purchased on an individual basis or for groups of 15 employees, or
less or 15 employees or greater.   ( Sample subjects include:  Coordination of
Benefits, Terminology, UB -04 Competency, ).  Every course involves
interactive self checks, a post test, a virtual notes tool and a printable
certificate of completion.
